A petition accusing the UK’s biggest access porn site Pornhub of profiting from videos of rape and sexual abuse is calling for web page to be shutdown.

Over the past year, the company has been facing accusations of this type of videos widely posted on its website.

The website is the biggest porn site and had 42 billion visits in 2019. It is free to access, with no age restrictions, and raises revenue through advertising and paid-for promotions by porn producers.

Mickelwait strongly believes that we need to move the conversation on from only talking about women’s choices or lack thereof, and we need to start talking about men’s choices to buy or not to buy sex.

She tells Moabelo the company is generating millions without verifying the content of the videos they receive.

“This is a company that is generating millions in advertising and membership revenue and yet they do not have an effective system in place to verify reliably the age or consent of those featured in the pornographic content it hosts.”

Mickelwait warns that the petition was not only aimed at Pornhub but other porn sites as well.

”This petition is specifically against Pornhub because they are the largest porn site in the world. If we can start with them, then the rest will follow.”
