The body of 4-year-old Bandile Skosana was found on Sunday after he was reported missing on Saturday. He was stabbed 14 times and then crushed with a boulder. The sweet 4-year-old boy from Rethabiseng in Bronkhorstspruit, celebrated his birthday last Tuesday and went missing on Saturday. The gruesome scene of his murder was discovered on Sunday. The community has been shocked by the gruesome and savage killing of an innocent little boy. Sipho Skosana, Bandile’s father, has been devastated by the senseless act of extreme violence: “My family last saw him at around 10:00 on Saturday.” A neighbour said that the family thought Bandile was playing with his friend somewhere. “The neighbour’s kid returned home at around 16:00 and he asked where Bandile was. He said he last saw him in the morning.” A frenzied and desperate search ensued but they could not find the boy. The police was then contacted. “Later on in the evening, a boy aged about 14 said he was hunting in the nearby mountain when men chased him after he saw them crushing [what looked like a boy] with a huge rock. We didn’t know if it was Bandile at the time, but the community followed [the teenager],” Skosana said. The traumatised teenager could not remember where the incident took place. Police along with community members started searching again on Sunday and finally found Bandile’s body under the boulder. “I don’t have any enemies [in the community] and I’m a normal guy who works at the mine and I don’t occupy a senior position. So, why would people do this to my child?”
The police urges anyone with information to come forward.
